A Mission Begins – Royal Public School

We, the team from Kalpaka NGO, walked into Royal Public School with one goal: to teach young minds about water conservation. But little did we know, we were about to witness some of the funniest and most heartwarming moments of our journey!

As we entered, the usual school chaos was in full swing—kids running in the corridors, a teacher reminding a student for the hundredth time to tuck in his shirt, and a group of friends having a very serious discussion about which Pokémon is the strongest.
In the middle of it all, thirty bright-eyed third-standard students were waiting for us, curious about what we had in store for them.

“What If There Was No Water?” – A Wild Imagination Exercise

To kick things off, we asked:
“What would happen if, one day, all the water disappeared?”
The room went silent. Then suddenly—
  • “No pani puri!”

  • “My dog won’t get water!”

  • “We can’t take a bath! …Wait, that’s a good thing!”

Laughter erupted. But soon, their giggles turned into thoughtful expressions as they realized the seriousness behind the question.

Making Learning Fun
The Superhero vs. The Dripping Tap

Instead of boring lectures, we decided to bring drama into the classroom.
We picked one student to act as “The Dripping Tap”—walking around making ‘drip-drip’ sounds. Another became a “Water-Saver Superhero”, running behind them trying to “fix” the problem.

The class loved it! Soon, they were all shouting out solutions:

  • “Turn off the tap!”

  • “Use a bucket instead of a pipe!”

  • “Catch rainwater in a drum!”

They weren’t just learning; they were thinking, laughing, and absorbing every lesson.

The Water-Wasting Championship – A Fun Challenge

We turned saving water into a challenge.

We told them: “Tonight, check how many times someone at home forgets to turn off the tap. Report back—who’s the biggest water-waster in your house?”

The kids loved the idea! Some were already planning to “catch” their parents in the act.

One student even whispered, “I think it’s my grandpa. He forgets everything!”

We couldn’t help but chuckle.

From Laughter to Realization – The Power of Small Actions

As the session progressed, something changed. The students who started the session laughing and joking were now deeply engaged and thoughtful.

One little boy raised his hand and asked, “If we waste water, what happens to the people who don’t have it?”

That moment proved that they understood. This wasn’t just about facts and rules. It was about real people, real struggles, and real change.

A Picture, A Promise, and A Mission

Before leaving, we took a group photo, but this wasn’t just any photo—it was a promise.

A promise that these children would remember what they learned today. A promise that they would save every drop.

And that’s what makes it all worth it. Change doesn’t start with rules, it starts in a classroom, with a child, with a single drop of awareness—one that spreads and grows into something greater.

“Every Drop You Save, A Child’s Tomorrow You Protect. The Power Is in Your Hands.”
